About me

Hi and welcome to the Swedish Coast!

My name is Melker Wångdahl and I´m a part-time digital nomad with my roots in west Sweden. During my travels, I found myself relying on travel blogs and guides to find the hidden gems and get the most out of the experience when visiting a new place. The Swedish Coast is my way of paying it forward and sharing all the things that I have come to love about our beautiful coastline.

In case you’re on a road trip, I also run a completely free service where I help people find free public rest stops in Sweden. Unfortunately, the website is only available in Swedish at this point, but perhaps you can take advantage of it with the help of Google Translate.

When I was a kid my family spent several summers exploring the coastline by boat. Hanging of jetties to fish for crabs and exploring the archipelagos. As a young adult, I lived in Grebbestad, a small fishing village, while studying marine life and navigation. Since then I have had plenty of time to explore every town and village up and down the coast.

So when you read my articles you can be sure that all the information you will find here is built upon firsthand experience. We live here, have spent years exploring the region, and every single picture on the websites is taken either by me or my partner Dominika.
